“Blessed are those who hear the word of God and do it.” Lk. 11:27-28
Faced with the praise that the woman in the crowd, surely with great admiration and enthusiasm, gives to the mother of Jesus, He responds with the conviction of someone who has discovered what truly gives well-being, joy and freedom. Jesus has discovered, and wants to teach us, that greatness is in the willingness to listen to the Word of God and in the courage to live it. Probably, in what Jesus says to the woman, He is saying that she too can be part of that beatitude. This is because she is already listening to the word of God by listening to Him. All that remains is for her to live those teachings that are filling her with so much enthusiasm. Jesus also reminds us today that we can be blessed. Let us ask him to help us to be able to listen to him and to live what He wants to teach us on this day.
