“The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.” Lk. 6:1-5

In the face of the Pharisees’ criticisms, Jesus puts life and human dignity above the empty norm. Rest and precept have meaning only if they are at the service of people’s well-being and their relationship with the Father. This attitude of the Master questions us about our own rigidities and the severe ways of judging those around us. Let us ask ourselves: what norms or customs are we putting above mercy and love of neighbor? Let us ask Jesus to help us discover: how to always place the person at the center, wherever we are.
