“Just as Moses lifted up the serpent … the Son of Man must be lifted up.” (Jn. 3:7-15)

To look at Jesus lifted up on the cross is not to look at failure, but to contemplate the true life for humanity that saves us from selfishness. When individualism, constant complaining, or resentment intoxicates us, looking to Jesus gives us back a compassionate sense of life. Today, what is damaging your inner peace or your community life, your family life? Feel that from the heart of the Lord comes the strength to order your affections. Let us ask ourselves: in the midst of my current problems, where am I looking? Let us embrace our crosses today with patience and with firm hope.
