“Get up, take your stretcher, go home. You are forgiven.” Mk. 2:1-12

One would not expect to find in the book of God’s Word so many details; An opening made on the roof by some neighbors who are looking for a miracle for a man sunk in passivity. Jesus values these simple efforts and, without being asked, says to the paralytic: “Son, your sins are forgiven.” The scribes, seated like judges, do not think of the joy of the paralytic or of the effort of those who brought him; they know that only God can forgive. But Jesus does not enter into arguments: God, who is Love, impels him to liberate life. His three commands say it all: “Get up; stand up; pick up your stretcher”, face the future with faith and “Go home”; learn to live together. Do we or someone around us need to listen to any of those commands? Let us pray that we listen.
