Day VI within the Octave of the Nativity of the Lord
“Anna began to thank God and talk about the Child Jesus to all those who were waiting for the liberation of Jerusalem.” Luke 2, 36-40
The liturgy and the closing of the year invite us again to contemplate those who recognize the mission of Jesus from his childhood. Today it is Anna, a prophetic woman, widowed from a young age and now old. Her life, marked by constant prayer and persevering hope, prepared her to identify in that little Child, the Savior that the Father sends to his people. Her clean and deep gaze allows her to see beyond appearances and recognize the silent work of God in everyday life. Thus, she embodies the beatitudes of the pure in heart and those who faithfully wait. As we prepare for a New Year, where do we glimpse today the realization of the Kingdom that Jesus brings? What experiences from the year 2025 helped us to forge a perspective like Anna’s?
