“As for you, my child, you will be called a prophet of the most high God, for you will go before the Lord.” Luke 1, 67-79

The arrival of the Baby in the Manger deeply rejoices the heart, and today we make our own the words of Zechariah, who, moved by the Holy Spirit, proclaims a song of hope. His son, John, will be a sign and announcement of salvation, called to prepare the ways of the Lord and to remember that the first recipients of God’s love are the poor, the forgotten, those who are on the edge of the road. This Word also invites us to look at the world with new eyes, to recognize the concrete faces of those who need comfort, justice and tenderness. May the joy of these days penetrate our interior and encourage us to weave, with simple and generous gestures, the Kingdom that the Lord dreams for his people. What is our personal hymn to the Lord today? Who awaits our gestures of closeness and mercy?
