“John is the prophet Elijah who was to come.” Matthew 11, 11-15

The growth of the Kingdom of God is not without difficulties, controversies and challenges. The life of John the Baptist is a testimony to this because his path was not easy, as he confronted the customs and expectations of his time. He went from being admired to being rejected and condemned. Speaking with truth and hope generates light, but it can also bring loneliness when that truth makes us uncomfortable. Following Jesus authentically continues to be a counter-current option in a society that exalts power, appearance and self-benefit. Living the values of the Gospel is choosing the joy of the Kingdom over the noise of false triumphs. What inspires us in the brave and faithful testimony of John the Baptist? What concept of success guides our lives today?
