“THE LORD IS COMPASSIONATE AND MERCIFUL” Ps. 103 Gen. 18:16-33
Mt. 8:18-22
Again we find Abraham in a trusting dialogue with the Lord, his friend, interceding for a city that the Lord is going to destroy. Abraham is daring in his request, but the Lord hears him, willing to do what Abraham asks of him. Abraham here foreshadows Jesus, our intercessor with the Father. But there is a difference: Abraham, who has not yet matured in his faith, did not have the courage to stay in the city to save it. Had he stayed, the Lord would have spared the city; in contrast, Jesus gave himself without reservation, to rescue humanity.
Today the Lord continues to wait for a generous answer and continues to say: “Follow me”. Today He needs my answer to be his presence among so many brothers and sisters who need a light, a voice of encouragement, a gesture of affection. And for that, you don’t have to go far… Maybe that brother or sister lives in your own neighborhood.
