ABRAHAM BELIEVED IN THE LORD.   GEN .15.6

Today’s Word invites us to look to Abraham. Abram, (the Lord has not yet changed His name) has begun to know the Lord, yet he has already put his trust in Him. He already knows that He is their Lord and, therefore, with simplicity, he communicates to him the concerns that stir his heart. On that day there was a Promise and a Covenant: God is Abram’s friend; Abram is God’s friend; friendship that will unleash the long history that brought us to the Savior.

We, like Abraham, believe, and this faith must bear fruit as today’s Gospel says. (Matthew, 7:15-26). The maturity of our faith will be measured by its fruits; the Lord awaits him and our brothers and sisters await him. Friendship with Jesus in the Father and the Holy Spirit will lead us to action and commitment. It is not for our personal satisfaction. it is so that our life will be a support for so many who need that closeness that brings them the presence of Jesus, and his Hope.
