“STORE UP TREASURES IN HEAVEN.” Mt. 6:19-23
Jesus is the treasure, the “beautiful lot that enchants us,” as Psalm 15 says. To discover it as the greatest richness of life is a great gift from our Father God and his Spirit. It is our greatest source of freedom and joy. All the things, the ones we love the most, the ones that have cost us a life to achieve, everything passes, absolutely everything, or we can lose them in an instant. Only Jesus, illuminating our lives, is the richness that no one can take away from us. Scripture says: “Whoever has found a friend has found a treasure”. (Ecclesiastes 6:14) To find the Lord as the unconditional Friend and to have Him at the center of our lives is the greatest treasure. With Him we have everything. May He be the reason for our pride today and always, as the Psalm of today’s liturgy says: “I am proud of the Lord.” (Ps. 24:3)
