“He realized that this was the hour.” (Jn. 4:54)
It will be good to be in the attitude of the Galileans and the centurion: to welcome Jesus, to believe in his Word. Easter is approaching and we will then be able to experience the new heavens and the new earth that Isaiah announces (65:17). We often hear the call to live in the “now”, to forget the difficult situations that have been experienced and that are no longer there, to think that the future is not in our hands, to focus on the now. But the hour of Jesus has a special place in the Gospel of John, and although Jesus said that the time had not come at the wedding, it is then and there that He inaugurated his mission. And it was a “now” when the centurion realized “that hour”, which was when the health of his servant was restored. Easter is coming and we will be able to experience the hour of Jesus in our lives: new heavens and a new earth… Let us open our hearts to hope!
