“Mercy, my God, by your goodness…” (Ps. 50)

On this beautiful Lenten journey, the Psalmist puts on our lips the words of David, repentant. The Babylonians, too, repented at Jonah’s preaching. It is us that Jesus invites us to recognize in Him, ‘the sign of Jonah’. Jesus calls his generation “perverse” (Mt. 12:38). They have chosen another path, (perverse is one that goes against ethics). Is this not what our generation is like? Every day we are afflicted by the news because of the false paths taken by our politicians, because of the corruption of the administrators of power… It is difficult for us to speak in our groups about the way of Jesus, about the wisdom of the Queen of Sheba. Let us allow ourselves to be invited by our prophets: “It is good to believe in Jesus” (Pagola), “Knowing Jesus Christ is everything” (Federico Carrasquilla).
