Sixth Week in Ordinary Time

“… brought him out of the village” Mk. 8:22-26

When Jesus arrived at Bethsaida, a blind man was brought to him and asked him to touch him. It is striking that Jesus takes him by the hand and takes him out of the village, perhaps He did not want witnesses of a new miracle in that place, because let us remember that Bethsaida is one of the places where Jesus did many miracles, but there was no change in their lives as we read in Matthew 11,  20-21: “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, you would have repented long ago…” This is also the reason why Jesus, once He has restored the blind man’s sight, smearing saliva in his eyes and laying his hands on him, sends him home, telling him not to enter the village. What blindness do I need Jesus to heal me of?
