Tuesday 8    Luke 10:38-42

They are anxious and troubled by so many things.

We continue to contemplate Jesus on his way to Jerusalem and today we find him in the home of his friends. The whole story is very eloquent, but we are going to stop at his dialogue with Martha, the servant woman, the one who is in charge of everything, in contrast to her sister Mary, the one who sits at the feet of Jesus and listens to him. Let us contemplate Jesus’ dialogue with Martha and the way in which He acknowledges her diligence but makes her realize that not everything can be action and agitation. In everyday life we need spaces of tranquility to rest and listen; listen to one another, listen to others, listen to God. Only from there can our activity and our service be carried out in peace, even with joy, and radiate that same spirit in a world burdened by overwork and deafened by so much noise and agitation.
