The harvest is plentiful, and the laborers are few.
The invitation today is to feel commissioned, to renew the awareness that we are in this world with a mission and that, if we want to live it fully, we need to listen to Jesus. He knows the mission and its implications in depth: “Go, behold, I send you out like lambs in the midst of wolves…” Go stripped of everything, with a message of peace, ready not to lose it when you are rejected or misunderstood; be ready to cure and to heal and, above all, to announce that the Kingdom of God is at hand. It is not easy to enter this path and stand firm on it, so we need to listen to Jesus who tells us today: “The harvest is plentiful, and the laborers are few…, pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest.” Today let us ask for the grace to be moved by the harvest that is lost for lack of workers and let us pray to the Lord of the harvest to help us to generously accept the mission with which He entrusts us.
