St. Gregory the Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church

^“They were amazed at his doctrine…” (Luke 4:31-37)

When Jesus addressed the inhabitants of Capernaum, they were all amazed at his doctrine, because He spoke with authority. Jesus speaks to the hearts of people, heals them and frees them from all the spirits that limit and bind them because his mere presence and word are enough to oppose evil and overcome it with his love and mercy. The Word of Jesus is, therefore, efficacious and liberating. Let us ask the Holy Spirit for the gift of wisdom and discernment to recognize the spirit of evil that seeks to dominate us. May we say like Paul: “we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:13-16).
