“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven…” Matthew 7:21
Jesus reminds us that the path that leads to perdition, shipwreck and the ruin of the person is to go the opposite way to the one He indicates to us… that is, to call upon him “Lord, Lord…” but not to listen to Him, and to live the opposite of what He asks of us. This is building on sand. “The rain fell, the rivers came, the winds blew and crashed against the house, and it sank completely.”
If we want to stumble, lose our footing and sink, we know the way: listen to Jesus and ignore him. It’s building on sand. If we want to remain standing, alive with light and meaning in the face of the various events of life, in the face of heavy rains and impetuous winds, we only have to listen to Jesus and put into practice what He tells us.
