Jealousy is a bad counselor, it arises in those who have some power. Someone who is “not one of us” is doing good. It was the jealousy of the rulers of Palestine in Jesus’ time that led him to the cross, and Jesus’ disciples also behaved in this way when they said, “He is not one of us.” Since childhood, perhaps, we have been victims or perpetrators of injustice out of jealousy. Let us ask the Lord to heal us of our insecurities, mistrusts, fears, of everything that is at the root of jealousy. Let us discover the spirits that move us, more than others. How would we rate our prayer in the spirit of discernment?
