Let’s take seriously the fact that we are sent. The first vocation, which is to life, comes with a genetic programming, with a series of peculiarities that come from far back, but also from the environment that surrounded our childhood and adolescence. All this gives us a unique and unrepeatable vocation. Jeanne de Lestonnac was a child of her time, by her parents, of different conditions, roots, and religions, but God did His work in her so that it might be the origin of a lasting work. We identify with their vocation and mission. To know Jeanne de Lestonnac is a call to holiness, as Jesus proposes to us in today’s Gospel: “For them I sanctify myself, that they, too, may be truly sanctified” (Jn 17:19). Let us count on the gift of Jesus, the mission on which He sends us.
