“Rejoice, the Lord is with you” Lk. 1:26-38
Mary is the humble woman who listens to God with trust and joy. It is from this same attitude that we must listen to God in the Church today.
The greeting of the angel Gabriel announces to Mary a great joy: “The Lord is with you”. This is good news. Joy in the Church of our day is not easy. It can only be born of trust in God. We are not orphans. Every day we live invoking a God, our Father who accompanies us, defends us, and always seeks the good of every human being. Thus, God is always with us.
To be ready to listen to God perhaps arouses in us fear and a fear that often paralyzes us because it demands of us a conversion to the Gospel and a strong commitment. Mary listen to God’s great invitation: “Do not be afraid.” This fills her with confidence and prepares her to accept the great mission of conceiving the Son of God and giving him to the world.
Let that “Do not be afraid” resound in us and, trusting in God, let us put light in the middle of the nights that our world is living. He is with us
