The texts of the liturgy of the day evoke the justice of God. Isaiah prophesies for the peoples oppressed by powers that dominate and enslave, trampling on the people who work with self-denial and effort to cultivate the land. In these oppressors, ambitious power not only frightens, but intimidates, leading so many communities to displacement. “They imprison us and divide our lands.” Colombia, likewise, today has more than 7 million people internally displaced by violence. This indicates that displacement has affected more than 8.6 million people, placing us as the second country with the most internally displaced people in the world. This reality, so crude and sometimes forgotten by us, challenges us to pray with Psalm 10: “Do not forget the humble, Lord. Give us your Spirit to preach justice to the nations, until He makes justice triumph.” In what way does the face of God in the victims of injustice challenge us?
