Luke 1:57-66,80 “Everyone wondered what will become of this child?”

This question that Luke highlights about the birth and circumcision of John the Baptist is a question that can arise when we look at children who begin life, and begin to grow… But here the question says something else: it arises at the end of a ritual marked by signs that make you think: it is the son of an old man and an elderly and sterile mother, a father who recovers his voice after having been mute at the announcement of that birth, a name that everyone misses because it is not in the family genealogy. History will show that this child marked the end of a stage in the history of salvation and the arrival of the new and definitive stage marked by the arrival of the Messiah whom that child will announce. Let us ponder today the way in which God conducts the history of salvation and try to discover him in this history of ours that seems to have no direction.
