Mt. 7:6,12-14 “Enter through the narrow gate… the one that leads to life.“

Jesus is ending the long sermon on the mount in which He has been inviting us to “order our lives” in the light of what He has shown us about the true meaning of God’s Law, that which is summed up in love for God and for one’s brother. Jesus, aware that it is not easy to abandon the old law that in some sense gives more security and to accept that new law, on which the true covenant of God is founded, presents us today with the following alternative: to enter through the door to which we are already accustomed in our way of life, or decide to enter through the narrow door that He has shown us with his word and with his life, with the certainty that this is the door that opens the narrow path, the one that leads to true life. Let us not forget that this is the path we are taking, in the following of Jesus.
