Mt. 9:36-10:8 “The harvest is plentiful, and the laborers are few.”

This is the first thing Jesus says when He contemplates the multitudes who were weary and abandoned like sheep without a shepherd. Jesus is moved, and invites us to ask the Father to send workers; But He is not only moved, but He also calls his twelve disciples and gives them power to heal, heal, liberate. And He sends them with very precise instructions on how they should proceed. That panorama that moved Jesus and led him to act, is repeated today with even more worrying and moving features. We live in a hectic society, moved by the desire to perform, but at the same time tired, disoriented, aimless. Surely we ask the Father to send workers and shepherds, but what do we do? What moves us, what are we willing to do? Could it be that today, too, Jesus calls us by name and wants to send us?
