SOLEMNITY OF PENTECOST “They were all filled with the Holy Spirit.”   Acts. 2, 1-11

On this solemnity, the Church is filled with joy because Jesus has put the finishing touch to her salvific mission: the gift of his Holy Spirit, which is another proof of his love. The liturgy of this solemnity, in the Sequence that accompanies the Word, with beautiful images, describes the indescribable action of the Spirit in our lives: “Light from heaven, loving Father, splendid in his gifts, rest in work, sweet guest, consolation in mourning, breeze in hours of fire, watering for the dry land, joy and strength, warmth of life, healing and purifying”. Let us say to him today with force: Come, Holy Spirit, renew the face of the earth, come to heal this world wounded by lack of love, incapable of accommodating the Kingdom of God, Come, Holy Spirit, to light our hearts with the fire of your love.
