Holy Tuesday, March 31, 2026

“It was night.” Jn. 13:21-33. 36-38In the intimacy of the Last Supper, Jesus shudders and announces the betrayal. It is not a minor detail: the pain does not come from outside, but from within, from one of their own. Even so, Jesus does not point harshly or break communion; He respects freedom, even when He knows that it will be used for evil. Judas goes out, and the evangelist adds a phrase full of meaning: “It was night.” Betrayal always leads to darkness. It seems that we all carry something of Judas. The good news is that Jesus does not stop loving, trusting, or calling. To follow Jesus is to accept our frailty and allow his love to lead us from darkness to light.
