TAKE HEART, DAUGHTER, YOUR FAITH HAS HEALED YOU. Matthew 9:18-26

Today’s Gospel leads us to meditate on two miracles of Jesus on behalf of two women. The first, a woman considered unclean due to irregular bleeding, which she had suffered from for twelve years. The other, in favor of a girl who had just died. According to the mentality of the time, anyone who touched blood or a corpse was considered impure. Blood and death were exclusion factors! For this reason, these two women were marginalized people, excluded from participation in the community. Whoever touched them would be impure, would not be allowed to participate in the community, and could not relate to God. In order to be readmitted to full community participation, the person had to go through the rite of purification, prescribed by the norms of the law.

“The girl is not dead, but sleeping,” Are you sleeping? If so, wake up! This is the message of today’s gospel. What does it say to me?
