Ordinary Time

When Jesus heard this, He said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a physician, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Mk. 2:13-17

Jesus is a Master of listening. As we contemplate him in each of the Gospel accounts, we can see that all his senses are open to pay due attention to everything that happens, both in his inner and outer world. If we want to grow in the art of listening, let’s look to Jesus. In today’s passage Jesus is attentive to Levi, but also to what the Pharisees say. The comment made by the Pharisees challenges Jesus, they refer him to his principle and foundation, to his purpose, to his mission.  Our life is not enough in itself, at times we need to listen to others, who look at us from other angles. This helps us to regain or strengthen the purpose for which we are in this world.
