“What is the chief commandment of the law? To love.” Mt. 22:34-40

We could summarize today’s liturgy in the verb to love and fill it with meaning, with the meaning that God gives us through his Word. The action of loving is, as a song says: the force “that moves the whole universe”. If we stop to think, the love that Jesus proposes to us leads us to want the good of others (the justice of which the first reading speaks to us). It makes us feel strengthened by God knowing that He is our rock, our deliverer (Psalm), and it helps us to welcome the word with the joy of the Holy Spirit (the witness of which the Second Reading speaks to us). May today’s Eucharistic celebration lead us to discover the love with which God treats us, to thank Him; and may it also lead us to ask Him for the ability to love with His infinite love, with that love that has no measure or expiration and only from which we can build a better world. Lord Jesus, teach us to love as you do.
