“How can you not interpret the present time? How can you not judge for yourselves what is right? ”. Lk. 12:54-59
In today’s Gospel, Jesus exhorts those who are listening to him. The exhortation consists of making them realize that, just as they know how to interpret the weather taking into account the horizon and the wind, they should also know how to interpret what is happening to them and what is right. Today, we are his listeners, and this is what we try to do every day in prayer. It is to us today that he calls us to interpret what we live as citizens, as a community, as a family, as a nation, as a society. We could allow ourselves to be enlightened by the reality we live in and today’s first reading, in which Saint Paul asks us to strive to “maintain the unity of the Spirit with the bond of peace.” How can I maintain unity in the reality I live today? In what experiences of the day do I find the face of God?
