“To whom much was given, much will be demanded; to whom much was entrusted, even more will be required.” Lk. 12:39-48

In today’s liturgy Saint Paul begins by describing the mission entrusted to him by God, that mission that has led him to “proclaim to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ”. This task that has been entrusted to him, he receives as a grace of which he is not worthy, and yet he carries it out with all integrity. In the Gospel, Jesus again emphasizes the importance of being prepared, “for at the hour when you least expect the Son of Man is coming”. Peter then asks him for whom He is telling the parable. Jesus does not answer directly for whom He is telling it. It seems that what He is trying to teach is that we should be aware of what has been entrusted to us in order to respond responsibly, honestly and justly to it. What has been entrusted to me? With what attitude am I living it?
