“This is my Son, the beloved, in Whom I am pleased. Listen to him.” Matthew 17:1-9

On the mountain, Jesus shows himself as he is: the beloved Son of the Father, whose face shines like the sun. That light is not an escape or a refuge, but a foretaste of the glory that will flow from the cross. Pedro wants to stay there, to stop time; We too sometimes seek a comfortable Christianity, without renunciation. But the Father’s voice reminds us of the essential: “Listen to him.” Listening to Jesus implies following him, coming down from the mountain to walk with him towards total surrender and letting his light transform our history and that of those around us.  We went up the mountain to see his glory; We come down to be interested in that glory transforming our history, and that of those around us.
