“The weeds are uprooted and burned.” Matthew 13:36-43.

Continuing in the line of sowing the good seed in the field, the seed grows with the weeds. In the same way in our lives and in society, evil becomes present and stays, if we allow it. “The question is whether to cut it immediately, and Jesus answers: it is to let it grow next to the wheat, and when the time comes for the harvest, it will be cut off, separated and burned.” The process and path of faith is the same. We walk and cultivate our own seeds and those of others; but evil permeates and seems to lose the good seed. The Lord invites us to live patiently, to continue cultivating without contaminating ourselves, trusting in his love and in the time of conversion, to cut off the weeds. Let us remember the words of Saint John of the Cross: “We shall all be examined about love.” How do we accompany young people, who live subjugated, objectified by the weeds of a superficial and alienating world?
