Mt. 7:21-29 “He who hears my words and puts them into practice… builds on rock“
It is not enough to pray with many words, or to say Lord, Lord! Nor is it worth prophesying or doing many things. Jesus warns us today that the important thing is to build our life on a firm foundation, which can withstand the winds and storms that come with living in a world like ours, in which currents of all kinds cross and tend to drag us along. To build on solid rock, Jesus tells us, is to listen to his Word and put it into practice; there is a reason why the disciples of Jesus were concerned to leave in writing those words that they heard from Jesus and that led them to live with meaning and to leave a mark that we can still follow. Let us resolve today to listen, not only with our ears, but with our hearts to that Word that gives life and becomes a solid rock that sustains us.
