Mt. 6:24-34  “You cannot serve God and money.”

In a society marked by flagrant inequality and at the same time dominated by economics, it is difficult, but at the same time urgent, to assimilate and live what Jesus tells us today in the Gospel: you cannot serve God and money, and then “seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and everything else will be given to you as well”. Thus He is telling us that those of us who intend to live according to the Gospel and to be its servants in this society, must be concerned first of all for those who do not have, for those who are on the margins, for those who still lack what is necessary to survive. God can only reign by caring for and doing justice to those whom no one else does, and He expects us to be agents of solidarity and justice. It is not possible to enjoy everything quietly and accumulate what we have left over, when there are so many who need it.
