Friday, June 12, 2026   Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Mt. 11:25-30    “Come to me, you who are weary, I will give you rest”.

How much we need to rest in this society that has been called “the society of exhaustion”! We have insisted on performing and giving our best, not always to have more; for many it is simply to have a way to survive. And then life is slipping away, our strength is exhausted and deep down we experience the emptiness that remains from so much agitation, so much noise, so many stimuli that exhaust us. Today Jesus tells us: Come to me, I will give you rest. Therein lies the secret of true rest: to regain the ability to encounter ourselves and the mystery of the God who dwells in us; the God who gives us life and sustains it, the God who makes himself present to us in Jesus, his son, and makes us feel that we too are his children, and that by following Jesus, we will find the secret to living and spending life with meaning. Let us listen to him.
