Mk. 12:35-37 “If David calls the Messiah Lord, how can he be his son?”

In today’s Gospel the roles are changed in relation to what the texts of the previous days presented to us; there the Jews wanted to test Jesus. Here it is Jesus who leaves them speechless, not to humiliate them, but to lead them not to stay in the letter of Scripture that says that the Messiah is the Son of David, and to go further to other texts that refer to the Messiah as Lord and God. The Pharisees, the Teachers of the Law, and the Priests clinging to the letter of the Law will be unable to understand what Jesus meant to them; instead, the Gospel tells us, the crowds listened to him with pleasure and saw in him someone who spoke with authority. And what do we think of Jesus as Messiah? What do we know about Him?
