SOLEMNITY OF THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD

“You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts. 1, 1-11

The physical and visible presence of Jesus will no longer be there; He has definitely entered into God. This is what is signified by the cloud that covered him. He will no longer be subject to the limitations of space and time, typical of his human condition; He will be able to accompany us at all times and places, always and until the end of time. From now on it will be the power of his Spirit that guides and supports us. And He leaves us a mission; our life must be his presence in the world. We need to let the Holy Spirit model the traits of Jesus in us, to make Him visible to our brothers and sisters. Frequent contact with him, through his Word and personal communication in prayer, will be the strength of our witness.  Someone said: “Our life will be the only Gospel that many will be able to read.”
