“This is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life.” (Jn, 6:35-40)

Today, the Gospel proposes to us a great reversal in the face of those who have a concept of a punishing God. God’s great plan, his will, is not to set traps for us or demand that we be perfect without the right to err. His plan is to embrace us all, so that no one, absolutely no one, is left out of his love. God does not reject anyone. When we understand this, we fall away from the suffocating guilt and perfectionism that rob us of peace. Are you too hard on yourself when you fail? Feel how his mercy welcomes you as you are. Rest for a while in his embrace. And with that same broad and non-judgmental gaze, let us look at and welcome others.
