“Were not our hearts burning as He spoke to us on the way…?” (Lk. 24:13-35)

Those who were going to Emmaus shuffle along, full of disappointment. And Jesus, with sensitivity accompanies them, understanding their distress. He listens to them without interrupting, explains life to them from the point of view of love and, when he breaks bread, he ignites their hearts again. Immediately, they regain their joy and run back to the community. Today, what disappointments have dulled your smile or alienated you from others? Feel Jesus walking in your path, right now. Ask yourself: what simple encounters in my day to day make my heart burn? May we be today that Jesus who walks beside the sad companion to restore hope.
