With the purpose of strengthening the educational mission of the Company of Mary, the 2026 Meeting of Principals and Coordinators was held as a space for reflection, analysis, and shared vision, inspired by the theme “Navigating the Present with Boldness.”
Day 1: Understanding reality to transform it
The day began in an atmosphere of reflection and openness at the Ecoparque Ciénaga de Mallorquín, where a moment of prayer helped center attention and prepare hearts to face today’s educational challenges.
Later, at Universidad del Norte, in the Observatory of Education of the Colombian Caribbean, participants attended a conference presenting key statistics on the decline in birth rates and its impact on education, as well as an analysis of the current state of education in Colombia in terms of coverage and quality. This session provided valuable insights to better understand the present context and envision meaningful responses.
In the afternoon, collaborative teamwork focused on reflecting about the type of school needed in today’s society. Meaningful proposals emerged to strengthen educational processes, outlining transformation paths aligned with the challenges of each context.
It was a day that invited participants to continue dreaming and building together an education rooted in purpose, innovation, and commitment.
Day 2: Leadership with purpose and vision
The second day began with a moment of prayer that deepened the understanding of the educational mission from a spiritual perspective. As a symbolic gesture, participants created paper boats, on which they expressed the light that, from the Church, guides and strengthens their mission, reaffirming their commitment to move forward with hope in the path of transformation.
This was followed by the panel “Leading and Managing Institutions with Innovation and Relevance,” led by Gustavo Rodríguez, with the participation of Víctor de Luque from Air-e and Adriana Tejada, promoter of personal excellence (PEP). This space fostered deep reflection on current challenges in educational leadership and the need for innovative, relevant management with a forward-looking vision.
The day continued with city-based meetings and collaborative work, inspired by the leadership of Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac, where each team shared methodologies, needs, and opportunities for improvement within their schools.
In the afternoon, the functions, priorities, and goals of the Education Commission were revisited, aligned with the Internationalization process. In this context, the structure and key lines of work guiding this process were presented. Additionally, the update and implementation of the Safety 2.0 project by UNIR were introduced, focused on strengthening curricular foundations for early childhood and preschool education, as well as enhancing the curriculum framework for early childhood, coordinated by María Adelaida Acevedo.
A meaningful closing
The meeting concluded with a symbolic gesture: the presentation of a compass to participants as a sign of direction and purpose. This symbol represented the call to lead with meaning, in community, and with openness to change.
In this way, principals and coordinators renewed their commitment to continue navigating the present with boldness, promoting a transformative education that remains faithful to its identity and responsive to the challenges of today’s world.
