Thursday, March 19, 2026. Solemnity of St. Joseph

“Joseph did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him” Mt. 1:16, 18-21. 24a.

Joseph, a silent and righteous man, is faced with a situation he does not understand. Faced with Mary’s pregnancy, he does not react harshly or with judgment, but with mercy. His justice is not legalistic; it is profoundly human and open to God. In the dream, God reveals his plan to him and entrusts him with a mission: to welcome Mary and name the child. Joseph believes, even if he does not have all the answers. His greatness lies in trusting obedience: he trusts in God and acts. Welcoming, protecting and caring becomes his concrete way of loving and serving God’s plan. Joseph does what God commands him. He teaches us that true faith is lived in simple gestures of daily fidelity, where God makes himself present.
