“Whoever hears my word and believes has eternal life”? Jn. 5:17-30

After healing on the Sabbath, Jesus clearly reveals who He is and what his mission is. My Father continues to act, and I also act. God does not rest from loving, giving life and sustaining the world. Jesus does not act on his own; everything He does springs from love and obedience to the Father. In him is manifested an authority that does not oppress but gives life. That is why He affirms that whoever hears his word and believes possesses eternal life. To believe in Jesus is to accept his word, to allow him to transform our existence and introduce us to a living relationship with God. To reject it, on the other hand, is to close oneself to the source of life. Do we allow His word to lift us up and give us life today?
