“The man believed the word of Jesus and set out on his journey.” Jn. 4:43-54
Jesus meets an official who is living in an extreme situation: his son is seriously ill. Like any anguished father, he seeks an urgent solution and asks Jesus to come to his house. Jesus invites him to take a deeper step; trust his word. “Your son lives,” He tells him, without physically accompanying him. The official believes, sets out on his way and, on the way, discovers that life has already been restored. Faith matures when we learn to trust before we see results. The experience culminates in a shared faith: the official and his entire family believe. Do we believe only when we see obvious signs, or are we able to walk supported by the word of Jesus?
