“Whoever fulfills them and teaches them will be great.” Mt. 5:17-19

Jesus makes it clear in this passage of today’s Gospel that he did not come to abolish the Law but to give it fullness. It is not a question of eliminating the commandments, but of taking them to their deepest meaning: love. The Law, fulfilled from the heart, ceases to be a burden and becomes a way of life. Jesus invites us to an authentic fidelity, which is not limited to “fulfilling norms”, but transforms the way we live, relate to each other and love. Do we live faith as a list of obligations or as a grateful response to God’s love? Jesus reminds us that true greatness in the Kingdom of God lies in living and teaching the Gospel consistently, allowing the Law to become flesh in concrete gestures of justice, mercy, and love.
