“Bear with me” “not seven, but seventy times seven”. Mt 18:21-35

Peter asks Jesus how many times he should forgive, as if seeking a reasonable limit. Jesus responds by breaking all accounts: “not seven, but seventy times seven.” Christian forgiveness is not measured; it is born of the love received. Jesus reminds us that forgiveness is not a secondary option, but the way to live in freedom. When we do not forgive, it is not the other who is bound, but ourselves. This Gospel invites us to look at ourselves honestly: God is patient with each one.  Are we aware of how much we have been forgiven by God? Or do we demand from others what we are not willing to give? Only those who know they are deeply forgiven can learn to truly forgive.
