Do you still not understand? (Mk. 8:14-21)

Jesus displays a bit of frustration with his disciples. Mark recounts Jesus’ initial answer is to be aware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Herod. The apostles conclude that it is because they do not have sufficient provisions.  Jesus reminds them of the two incidents when he multiplied the loaves and fish.  Had they forgotten the meaning already or had they never understood? Are they like the pharisees and Herod whose “yeast” was one that spread confusion and blocked the words of Jesus from entering their hearts?  Just like yeast affects the entire loaf, such men are stopping many from conversion.  As disciples of Christ, pray that we can develop the mindset of the Savior, trusting that all that is needed will be provided.
