Day V within the Octave of the Nativity of the Lord

“Simeon took him in his arms and praised God.” Luke 2:22-35

Simeon, a just and pious man filled with the Holy Spirit, recognizes the promised Messiah in the Child and announces that He is destined to cause many in Israel to fall or rise. His prophecy reveals the transforming force of the presence of Christ, which confronts and renews the human heart. The story is framed in a gesture of simplicity; Joseph and Mary present the Child in the temple with the humble offering of two doves, a sign of poverty and dedication. In the midst of the small, God manifests his greatness and reveals the logic of the Kingdom; The weak, the hidden and the simple become a space for salvation. How has Jesus changed our lives? If we saw this year 2025 in the light of God’s passage through our history, what lights (moments of grace, growth, encounter) and shadows (challenges, fragilities, lessons) would we highlight?
