“Zechariah, do not be afraid, for God has heard your prayer.” Luke 1, 5-25
The Annunciation scene of the birth of John the Baptist reveals to us how God is present in a loving and attentive way in the concrete lives of people. He knows Elizabeth and Zechariah deeply; their advanced age, their desire to have children, their sadness and their hope. Nothing in their history is foreign to him, and precisely from that reality, God acts, commits himself to them and entrusts them with a mission. Advent encourages us to recognize those signs of God that burst into our daily lives, to welcome his announcements confidently and to let his love inspire our actions. What announcements of the Lord are we discovering in this season of Advent? How does his love guide our daily lives?
