“Which of the two did what his father wanted?” Matthew 21, 28-32

The commitment of those of us who have been baptized is demonstrated more in works than in words. Being a reason for hope comes from the way we live our daily lives; in the justice of our actions, in the way we understand, welcome and relate to others. Jesus, at the end of the parable, surprises everyone by stating that publicans and prostitutes will enter the Kingdom of Heaven first. And that is because they, aware of their fragility, do not feel worthy of salvation, but they do feel capable of accepting it with humility. It is not about saying “yes” with your lips but about making it come to life in your daily actions. Let’s ask ourselves: In what way have we been a source of hope and joy for others with our actions? How does spirituality drive and sustain this mission in the world?
